The Black Panther smashes the box office and causes Black cinema to top the charts last weekend with the release of the screening of the Black Panther. This highly anticipated movie. The chart topper earned $192 million in the United States and in Canada. It’s also the highest-grossing February opening weekend.
Black Panther story line.
After the death of his father, T’Challa returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king — and as Black Panther — gets tested when he’s drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.
The Black Panther smashes the box office and stars Chadwick Boseman portraying King T’Challa, ruler of Wakanda, a technologically advanced society, who conflicts with Michael B. Jordan’s Eric Killmonger, who intends to take over the throne. Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Danai Gurira, and Daniel Kaluuya also star. The Black Panther is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, owned by Disney. This is Disney’s first block buster featuring a full black cast and black director.
It’s good to see a positive story line portraying Blacks and tackling the issues and challenges of those of African descent. The Black Panther is powerful beyond words. Many are wondering why blacks are so excited about this movie. Some are have even said “what’s the big deal”?We love action movies with super heroes but, most importantly it allows blacks to see themselves on the big screen as something other than gang members, criminals or other unsightly images.
