Founders Kirsten Ussery, along with her partner, Erika Boyd, opened Detroit Vegan Soul to help teach the city’s residents about healthy eating and wellness. Even though before founding Detroit Vegan Soul Ussery worked in high paying positions, but her heart pulled her into a different direction. “I wanted to do something that was personally fulfilling and maybe change my lifestyle a little bit.”
Detroit Vegan Soulful a Tasty Delight. The menu consists of Fried Broccoli, Black-eyed Pea Hummus, Creamy black-eyed pea hummus dip and Southern Fried Tofu Bites which diners can enjoy for starters. Main entrees include the Soul Platter made up of Mac-n-cheese, tenderly smoked collards, maple glazed yams, black-eyed peas and a cornbread muffin. A Seitan Pepper Steak created in their own special sauce with peppers, onions, garlic and ginger served with brown rice and sesame broccoli and Bar-B-Que Tofu, along with corn-on-cobb, kale & potato salad is also popular. There is even a Catfish Tofu ans smoothie that you might enjoy.
